BUCYRUS (Crawford County Now) — A rookie won the 57th Ladies Invitational Tournament at Suburban Lanes on Saturday.
Carolyn Hendrickson, making her first appearance in the tournament, edged tournament veteran Heather McLaughlin in a fifth game roll-off to take the trophy.
McLaughlin, who came out of the losers’ bracket in the double-elimination competition, forced the fifth game by taking the four-game handily, 1080-875.
However, for the fifth game, the competitors moved from Lanes 9-10 to 11-12. The change favored Hendrickson, who tossed a 214 game to McLaughlin’s 207. McLaughlin is a four-time champion of the invitational.
Hendrickson took home the championship trophy, a necklace, and a $500 payday for her efforts. She is thought to be the first rookie to ever win the event.
