IBERIA — Bucyrus cross country has a bright future if the results of last week’s Northmor Invitational are any indication.
A.J. Griffin won the boys’ middle school portion of the meet with a time of 12:56.03. Griffin edged East Knox’ Brody Korosec, who finished second at 12:56.61.
Bucyrus placed fifth of seven teams in the meet. Dylan Chanthasene placed 13th for the Redmen with a 13:47.61. Fredericktown won the boys’ race.
In the varsity contest, the Bucyrus freshman Karter Boggs finished third as the Redmen came in seventh in the 10-team field. Devin Deskins was the next highest finisher for Bucyrus at 33rd with a time of 20: 41.12. Northmor slipped past Pleasant 63-66 for the meet title.
Harper Boggs led the Lady Redmen varsity, placing 47th with a time of 28:14.12. Bucyrus was eighth of eight teams. Fredericktown won the meet.
For the middle school girls, Addie Weber was high finisher at 25th with a 18:04.37 and Madalyn Weiler was 27th at 18:19.52. Northmor was meet champion.
