A slow start put the Graders in a hole that they couldn’t quite get out of Tuesday. The result was a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Lima Locos.
The Graders and starting pitcher Matt Sullivan gave up two runs in the first and three runs in the second, four of which were unearned. That was all the offense the Locos needed as they dished out the Graders’ eighth loss of the year.
The Graders would however make it interesting. Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the ninth with runners on first and second, Mark Delas singled and scored Nicholas Riotto. Then only down one, with one out and runners on first and second, Jake Krupar grounded into a double play to end the game as well as the Graders’ rally.
The Locos’ Tyler Miller picked up the win while Seth Kinker was credited the save. Riotto led the Graders’ offense going four-for-four with three runs scored.
These two teams play again Wednesday night at Simmons Park in Lima with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
