The girls high school basketball season gets underway Friday night with five games in the area.

At Bucyrus High School, the Lady Redmen will host the Tip-Off Classic. The JV portion of the tournament will start at 2 p.m. with Riverdale facing Mansfield Senior, followed by Hopewell-Loudon and Bucyrus. The same matchups will play in the varsity tournament with Riverdale taking on Mansfield Senior at 5:45 and Bucyrus facing Hopewell-Loudon at 7:30.

The losers of each game will face each other Saturday with the JV game at 2 p.m. and the varsity consolation game at 5:45. The winners of Friday’s games will play each other Saturday with the JV contest at 3:30 and the varsity championship game scheduled to start at 7:30.

Friday’s Bucyrus/Hopewell-Loudon game can be heard live on WQEL 92.7FM radio and on the stream at wqel.com starting at 7:30. Friday Night Phoneboard will follow the game.

Other games Friday night will have Colonel Crawford hosting Pleasant, Wynford hosting New Riegel, and Ridgedale traveling to Kenton.
