MANSFIELD (Crawford County Now) — Galion’s Gradey Harding won the 132-pound championship of the 63rd J.C. Gorman Wrestling Invitational Saturday. Harding beat Ontario’s Tyler Turnbaugh 7-3 in the finals.

“I’m not where I want to be yet,” Harding, a state runner-up last year, told The Richland Source. “It’s nice to win here, but ultimately I’m chasing that state title.”

Ryder Alberty took third place at 138, taking a 1-0 decision over Tyler Ulmer of New Philadelphia.

Teammates Kane Hay at 144 and Brice McDaniel at 175 both placed fourth.

The Tigers were ninth as a team and Bucyrus was 20th.

Bucyrus freshman Camden Redmon placed third at 126 and junior Hayden Butcher fourth at 285.

“Cam doesn’t want all the credit or all the lights on him,” Redmen head coach Shane Kokensparger said.

Redmon is 21-1, with the only loss coming to the seventh-ranked wrestler in the state.

“He’s truly a team player and prepares as though everyone he wrestles is a state champ,” he said. “He makes all of his teammates better, and that encourages everyone to work hard to reach their ultimate goal.”

Butcher is 16-5 on the season after losing by pinfall to Luke Remy of Clear Fork.

Redmon lost to eventual champion Grady Lambdin of Chippewa 4-0 in the semifinals, before bouncing back to beat Elgin’s Landon Shrader 15-0 on a technical fall and Olentangy Berlin’s Zayne Cassidy by an 8-1 decision.

Butcher fell in the semifinals to Ashland’s Martin, then beat Mapleton’s Lukas Jenkins (fall, 3:50) before falling to Remy.

Mohawk’s Kaden Bish also won the title at 175. Bish topped Tristan Gibson of Ashland by majority decision 14-6.

Teammate Owen Patrizi took second at 144 pounds, losing to Clear Fork’s Anthony Oscar by technical fall.

Alex Young of Seneca East claimed top honors at 215, downing Mason Garno of Tiffin Columbian 10-3.

Tiger teammate Jackson Gayheart placed third, defeating Percy Long of Mansfield Senior in 47 seconds.

Seneca East placed 14th and Mohawk 15th out of 41 schools.
