The Galion men’s swim team continued its domination with a 77-13 win over Mansfield Senior on Jan. 4. The team is now 8-0 on the season. The Lady Tigers also posted a win with a 63-24 victory, pushing their season’s record to 3-5.

The men’s team won all but one event – the 50 yard freestyle – and even in that event, Caleb Strack posted a time of 24.77, good enough for a second place finish. Eli Skaggs put up a season best time of 1:51.38 in the 200 yard freestyle event.

On the women’s side, the Lady Tigers were paced by double winners in Sari Conner (200 yard IM and 500 yard freestyle), Bri Wallis (100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke), and Allison DeNero (50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke). Elise Barnhart posted a season best time of 1:05.74 in the 100 yard freestyle.

“This meet provided swimmers an opportunity to swim events outside of their normal swims. It did show the versatility of this swim team,” said Galion swim coach Ted Temple. “I was extremely proud of the way the Galion swimmers looked tonight.”
