MOAC rivals battled in a close game in less than ideal conditions In WQEL’s game of the week Friday night as the Galion Tigers defeated the Upper Sandusky Rams 21-14.

Galion started off to an early start with a 69 yard rush from quarterback Jacob Fryer with 11:38 left in the first quarter outing the Tigers up 7-0. Upper Sandusky answered back with 26 seconds left in the half on a 7 play 30 yard drive that resulted in an 8 yard touchdown from Shane Pack sending the game knotted up at 7 at the half.

Galion grabbed 2 scores in the third quarter to jump out front to a 21-7 lead. The Rams added a score with 9:14 left in the fourth, but Galion’s defense was too tough to overcome with the tigers holding on to the 21-14 lead.

Jacob Fryer led Galion on the ground rushing for 119 yards on 13 attempts and one touchdown. Fryer also went 2 of 7 passing for 28 yards.

Upper Sandusky’s Seth Frey led the Rams on the ground with a score and 52 yards on 16 attempts, Frey was also 6 of 10 for 73 yards and two interceptions.

Galion Travels to River Valley next Friday.

In a matchup featuring N-10 championship implications Buckeye Central hosted Carey Friday night.

Carey started out of the gate early going into the half with a 21-6 lead. The Bucks made it interesting in the third quarter getting a safety and a touchdown to bring the game within 7 points, but in the end the Bucks couldn’t exercise the Blue Devils as Carey coasted to a 35-14 victory.

Grant Loy led Buckeye Central’s passing attack going 8 of 221 for 87 yards and a touchdown and interception. Cody Roberts led B.C. on the ground with 34 yards on 10 rushing attempts.
B.C. travels to Bucyrus for their week 7 game.

The Blue Devils’ Jonathon Racheter led the ground game with 108 yards on 17 attempts and 2 scores. Bryan Powers added a score and 99 yards on the ground on 15 attempts, Powers also had a 10 yard touchdown reception. Dylan Noon threw for 2 TD passes on 6 of 10 passing for 59 yards.

It was homecoming night for Wynford as they took on Crestline. Homecoming Queen Ellie Richmond, and Homecoming King David Blank watched their Royals coast to a 62-6 victory over the beleaguered Bulldogs.

In a non N10 Conference game Bucyrus defeated Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic 37-0.


During the game Cole Murtiff tossed for a score to Austin Williams that put the Redmen up 28-0.

Elsewhere around the county and N10 Colonel Crawford upended Ridgedale 54-8, and Seneca East defeated Mohawk 23-9.
