There was plenty of good news for Crawford County out of the state track meet in Columbus this weekend. But without question the headliners were the Galion girls in the 4 X 100 relay.
Laura McElligott, Michaela Slone, Clair Erlston and Sydney Hunt raced home with a Division II state title in a time of 48.71.
Wynford’s Amber Gottfried tied the school record and took second in the girls Division III high jump with a leap of 5-feet-6-inches. The Lady Royals’ Callie Ruffener cleared the bar at 11-feet-4-inches in the girls Division III pole vault to claim fourth.
Brittany Parcell of Bucyrus set three school records and made the podium in all three events she competed in at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. In Division II girls, Parcell was fifth in the long jump with an effort of 17-feet-3.75-inches; eighth in the 100-meters in 12.73; and eighth in the 200-meters with a time of 25.80.
The Colonel Crawford boys 4 X 200 quartet of Brett Bakies, Dalton Scott, Dylan Gulley and Owen Adam was seventh among Division III boys with a time of 1:30.58. Also for the Colonel Crawford boys, Clay Martin was eighth in the 1,600-meters in 4:26.45.
For the Colonel Crawford girls in Division III, Chelsea Webster was eighth in the 400-meters with a time of 58.08.
Wynford’s Ellie Richmond was 11th in the girls Divsiion III 1,600-meters with a time of 5:26.41.
