The Galion Middle School girls track team completed an undefeated season recently with a state Division II championship at Dublin Scioto High School. The Tigers’ middle school boys team was third in Division II.

girls on podium 1st placeGalion girls boast two individual state champions from that meet. Marissa Gwinner won the long jump with a leap of 16-feet-1-inch. Briana Streib won the shot put with an effort of 40-feet-2.25 inches.

Gwinner also took second in the high jump and pole vault and Streib was second in the discus.

The 4 X 800 relay team of Amos, Hoffman, McNabb and Williams was second and the 4 X 100 team of Knipp, Vandervort, Sailee and Juarez was fifth. Sari Conner took sixth in the 3,200 and the 4 X 400 relay team of Williams, Vandervort, Juarez and Williams was sixth.

boys 3rd placeFor the Galion boys, Harrison Ivy won the 400 with a time of 52.84. The Tigers had two second-place relays – Crisman, Crisman, Mollenkopf and Windbigler in the 4 X 100 and Crisman, Anderson, Mollenkopf and Ivy in the 4 X 400.

Hughett, Rigdon, Knight and McElligot were fourth in the 4 X 800 as were Crisman, Windbigler, Anderson and Ivy in the 4 X 200. Max Mollenkopf had an individual fifth-place finish in the 400.

Takoda Crisman was sixth in the 200-meter hurdles and Zhamir Anderson was sixth in the long jump.

CC Jr High Track State meet 2014In Division III, the Colonel Crawford boys finished third in the team standings and the Colonel Crawford girls were fourth.
