FOSTORIA — Galion girls and Wynford boys bowling teams each advanced to the Division II district tournament from the sectional tournament at Seneca Lanes Thursday and Friday.
Galion finished first of 10 teams in the field with a team score of 2954. The top three teams advance. Fostoria (2848) and Shelby (2826) were second and third and will also move on. Bucyrus fell 16 pins short, finishing fourth with a 2810.
Kylee Crager led Galion with a 532, second place individually. Zoe Frary (third) had a 530, and Kadence Fairchild (fourth) came in at 484.
Wynford finished second in the boys’ tournament on Friday with a 3728. Liberty-Benton was first with a 3813 and Kenton took third with a 3643. There were 12 teams competing. Again, Bucyrus just missed, finishing fourth with a 3355.
Tyler Bindner led the Royals with a 608 series and a second-place finish individually. Sebastien Prince was sixth with a 565. Kobie Naufzinger tied for ninth with a 549.
In addition, the top three individuals advance if their teams do not. For the boys, Bucyrus’ Seth Price is district bound with a score of 582, including a 247 game, finishing fifth overall. Freshman Landon Fairchild of Galion joins him, rolling a 552, good for eighth place.
Marissa Black of Crestline tossed a seventh-place 446 to qualify for the girls’ district tournament.
The district tournaments are at Interstate Lanes in Rossford. The boys roll at 10 a.m. Thursday and the girls at 10 a.m. Friday.
