Renewing their rivalry in their annual battle for the Seccaium Trophy, Galion and Bucyrus were the only two teams from Crawford County to go head to head in the first week of high school football.
Behind 100 yard rushing games from Drake Barnett and Jacob Fryer, it was Galion coming out on top and claiming the Seccaium Trophy dominating Bucyrus 55-0.
Galion started the scoring early capping off a five-play, 80 yard drive on a 9 yard touchdown from Barnett with 10:04 left in the first quarter. Fryer added to Galion’s score under two minutes later on a 51 yard run. It didn’t get much better for Bucyrus as Galion would continue to pour on the points taking a 34-0 lead into the half.
Galion’s Barnett led all rushers with 157 yards on 14 attempts for three touchdowns. Fryer added 103 yards on five attempts for one touchdown.
Galion’s defense held Bucyrus to 34 total yards of offense in the game.

Buckeye Central opened their season on a high note with a 30-6 win against Plymouth Friday night.
Buckeye Central jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the half on a 14 yard run from Owen Ackerman and a one yard run from Nash Ehresman. Cody Roberts would go on to score the Bucks next 18 points, grabbing three touchdowns on 14 attempts for 169 yards rushing.
Plymouth’s lone score came on a one yard run by Grant Weltlin. Weltlin led the Big Red with 104 yards on 23 attempts.
Colonel Crawford earned their first victory of the season against Mt. Gilead with a score of 42-21. The game was knotted at 14 points in the third when the Eagles took flight against the Indians scoring 21 points before the Indians could answer back.

Wynford snatched defeat from the hands of victory against Liberty Benton. The Royals held on to a 14-10 lead with three minutes left in the game, but in the end it was Liberty Benton coming out on top 17-14.
Penalties stifled Crestline early on in their home opener against Mapleton. Trailing by a score of 6-5 Mapleton converted two penalties for scores and a 20-5 lead at the half. Crestline never recovered losing 46-5.
