Shelby High School will host the second annual Shelby Rotary NCO Girls All-Star Classic on Wednesday, March 25 beginning at 6 p.m. The evening will feature two games beginning with an Underclass Showcase Game followed by a Senior All-Star Game highlighting girls nominated by their coaches after receiving first team, second team or honorable mention honors in District 6, Divisions I-IV.

Kelci SimmsThis year, over 70 girls (seniors and high school underclassman) who received honors in District 6 within their Divisions from over 40 schools were nominated. From the nominated group, 20 were selected via draft to play 10 per team in the Underclass Showcase Game and 20 in the Senior All-Star Game, 10 per team.

“This is an excellent opportunity for these young ladies to celebrate their High School careers and play with the best in our District, NW District and even State,” said coach Natalie Lantz.

Division II, Division III and NAIA colleges have been invited for the opportunity to watch and Alexus Burkhartrecruit some of our areas and the state’s finest young talent.

The following student-athletes have been selected for the Underclass Showcase Game. Players from schools in Crawford County can be found in bold.

Tickets for the game are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free for those ages 18 and under who donate a gently used or new children’s book to the Rotary’s “Big Red Book Shelf.” Initiated by Richland New Hope, the “Big Red Book Shelf” has several locations around Richland County and is intended to promote reading. Half time entertainment will include a dunk contest featuring District 6 boys and a three-point shooting contest with District 6 girls.
