BUCYRUS — Eight bowlers dropped from the field of 16 during Day 2 action of the 58th Bill Rahm Bowling Tournament at Suburban Lanes on Sunday.
The eight winners from the first round on Saturday bowled first, sending four more to the losers’ bracket.
Shawn Ridgeway defeated Brayden Bruner, 865-768, Mike Lear downed Joe Powers, 940-811, Nathan Monk topped Joel Butt, 943-850, and Mitch Long took down Dave Shock, 868-779.
In the losers’ bracket, Jo Metz got by Don McLaughlin, 835-802. Brad Fairchild edged Jacob Dairy, 846-840. Tod Spurlock squeaked past Charles Yancy, 894-891, and Brock Lykens beat Bob Lear Jr., 825-776.
McLaughlin, Dairy, Yancy, and Lear exited the tournament.
In the second round of the losers’ bracket, Lykens defeated Shock, 888-864, sending Shock home. Powers edged Fairchild, 831-828, to drop Fairchild from the field.
Bruner knocked off Metz, 812-778, to eliminated Metz. And Butt took down Spurlock, 881-760, which dropped Spurlock from the field.
Four bowlers remain in both the winners’ and losers’ brackets. In the winners’ bracket, Ridgeway will face off with Long and Monk takes on Mike Lear.
In the losers’ bracket, Butt will bowl Powers and Bruner matches up with Lykens. The losers will be eliminated, and the winners will take on the losers from the winners’ bracket.
The first balls will roll at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Suburban Lanes. Two bowlers will survive the second weekend to set up the finals on Saturday, February 24.
