As suspected, there were a couple of changes already — from Week 1 to Week 2 — in the Crawford County Now Player of the Year Watch.
As a reminder, this is the speculation of the CCN staff and does not reflect the opinions of N10 coaches or administrators.
The list is in no specific order.
Girls
Jenna Karl, Sr., Buckeye Central: Karl is the newcomer to the list, though she was bubbling under the surface last week. Karl has raised her scoring average to 17.2 points per game and is first in the N10 in assists at 6.7 per game. The senior also gets it done on the defensive end as evidenced in her league-leading 4.8 steals average.
Jessica Bowerman, Fr., Seneca East: Bowerman has not allowed the lack of previous varsity experience to rattle her. She stayed at second in the league in scoring at 18.8 ppg., leading the Tigers to a 5-1 start to the season.
Sydney Kin, Sr., Carey: Kin sat part of a game due to injury, which lowered her scoring average, but the Findlay-bound senior remained in the top five in the N10. She is also second in the league in rebounding and field goal percentage.
Courtney Pifher, Jr., Buckeye Central: It’s no secret why the Buckettes are undefeated through the first six games, including a 47-44 victory at Upper Sandusky. The duo of Karl and Pifher have combined for over 35 points per game. Pifher is third in the N10 at 18.3 ppg.
Abigail Fogle, Sr., Upper Sandusky: Fogle continues to lead the league in scoring at 21.1 ppg. She is third in the N10 in free throw shooting, helping the Lady Rams to a 6-2 start.
Boys
Josh Crall, So., Wynford: Though his scoring average dropped from the first week, Crall maintained his top spot on the N10 scoring list at an even 20 ppg. He is also tied for first in the league in steals with 2.8 per game.
Cameron McCreary, So., Colonel Crawford: McCreary closed the gap on Crall for the scoring lead, sitting second at 18.6 ppg. The Eagles are 4-1 and are a half game behind Seneca East in the N10 race, thanks in large part to McCreary’s contributions. Far from being a black hole on offense, McCreary leads the N10 in assists at 8.4 per game.
Jevon Dible, Sr., Upper Sandusky: Dible occupies the third spot in N10 scoring at 18.0 ppg. He is also tied with Crall for the lead in steals, leading the Rams to a 4-2 start.
Cody Luzader, Sr., Carey: Luzader comes into the week fifth in the league in scoring at 17.2 ppg. He has the most made three-point shots with 19 as the Blue Devils are off to a 4-2 start to the season.
Zach Hayman, Jr., Mohawk: Hayman breaks into the top five on the watch list on the strength of a 31-point effort in a 73-67 loss at Colonel Crawford. That performance helped raise his average to 17.8 ppg., good for fourth place. Hayman is also third in steals (2.5) tied for fourth in assists (4.5). The 2-2 Warriors will not continue under the radar in the N10 for long.
