1. Wynford (6-2): Lost your quarterback? Undefeated league opponent coming to your place? No problem for the Royals. Wyatt Smith could not play Friday night. Nonetheless, Wynford used the next-man-up philosophy and rolled to a 31-13 victory over previously unbeaten Seneca East. The Royals now control their own playoff destiny and with the remaining opponents Upper Sandusky and Buckeye Central a combined 3-13, their postseason chances look good.
2. Galion (4-4): The Tigers, losers of four of their last five, will try to stop the bleeding this week at Ontario. The Warriors have been hit hard by injuries and have only two wins on the year. Still, after last week’s 68-26 drubbing at North Union, Galion can take nothing for granted in the rugged MOAC.
3. Colonel Crawford (3-5): The Eagles missed their chance to claw their way back into the playoff picture by dropping a 28-21 heartbreaker to Lucas. The Cubs, with only one loss, would have been a computer points bonanza for Colonel Crawford. The Eagles will have to settle for salvaging a .500 season by winning out.
4. Crestline (4-4): The Bulldogs took care of business with a 31-0 shutout of winless Toledo Christian last week. Crestline is in a position to guarantee itself a .500 season with a win over 2-5 Ridgedale Friday.
5. Bucyrus (1-7): Seneca East will come to Bucyrus still stinging from its first loss of the season at Wynford last week, but also still very much in the playoff mix. The Redmen absorbed a 42-14 defeat at Mohawk last week and are stuck on one victory. Bucyrus would need to play a nearly perfect game to pull of the upset. The incentive is the seniors’ last home game.
6. Buckeye Central (0-8): The Bucks remained winless by dropping a 28-12 decision at Upper Sandusky last week. Buckeye Central has two more opportunities to get into the win column: This week at Colonel Crawford and Week 10 hosting Wynford.
