BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Now Athletes of the Week presented by River’s Edge Embroidery, Screen Printing and Signs have been selected for Jan. 14-19, 2019.
The girl athlete of the week is stepped up in a time when her team needed her to go above her typical role the most.
Galion High School girls’ basketball player Gabby Kaple came off the bench to lead the Tigers with a team-high 13 points.
Her effort led the Tigers to a 48-44 victory against county rival Bucyrus.
The win ended a 13-game losing streak for Galion.
The boy athlete of the week faced a great deal of adversity to start the season but helped his team upon returning to get an important league win.
Wynford boys’ basketball player Caleb Rausch scored 12 points, more than double his season average, in a Northern 10 win for the Royals.
Rausch also led his team with nine rebounds in the Royals’ 70-50 conference win versus Buckeye Central.
The performance comes after Rausch missed the beginning of the season with an injury.
