BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Now Athletes of the Week presented by River’s Edge Embroidery, Screen Printing and Signs have been selected by the fans for Jan. 7-12, 2019.

This week’s winners came in clutch with when their teams needed them, both on the mat and the hardwood.

The boy athlete winner for the week of Jan. 7-12, is Kael Scott of the Bucyrus High School wrestling team.

Scott led the Redmen with a 5-0 record on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Carey Classic. The sophomore recorded four pins while taking first place in the 152-pound weight class.

He also led the Redmen grapplers to a fourth-place team finish out of 14 schools.

The girl athlete of the week is Upper Sandusky girls’ basketball player Alivia Oney.

Oney finished with a game-high 17 points in the Lady Rams’ 54-51 home win against Northern 10 rival Wynford.

In a game between two teams battling head-to-head in the league standings, Oney scored six of her 17 in the fourth quarter to help push her team to the victory.
