A couple close games and a couple blowouts were on tap across the county in the ninth week of high school football under the lights Friday night.
In WQEL’s game of the week the Galion Tigers crushed the Bucyrus Redmen 42-0.
Galion Quarterback Dareian Watkins was held in check by the Redmen, but still managed to complete 6 passes on 11 attempts for 34 yards and two touchdowns. Arby Thompson led Galion’s rushing attack gaining 106 yards on 5 attempts for two touchdowns. Alex Armistad led the Tigers receiving corps catching 7 receptions for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
With 11 completions on 23 attempts for 90 yards Bucyrus Quarterback Cole Murtiff led the Redmen in the air game. Colin Light led Redmen Rushers going 19 yards on 7 attempts. Trent Neiderkohr caught 2 receptions for 32 yards leading the Redmen in the receiving category.
In a game with NCC title implications, the Colonel Crawford Eagles beat the Upper Sandusky Rams 28-27.
Colonel Crawford Quarterback Nate Klingenberger completed 16 passes on 29 attempts for 195 yards and a touchdown. Klingenberger also added two scores on 21 yards rushing. Eli Ressey led the Eagles ground game rushing for 107 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown. Dylan Gulley led the Eagles in the air with 112 yards on 7 receptions. Perhaps the play of the night for the Eagles happened on the defensive side of the ball when Eagles defensive player Adam Cotsmire intercepted a pass as Upper Sandusky was driving with 16 seconds in the game sealing the win for the Eagles.
The Buckeye Central Bucks picked up their third win of the season beating the Riverdale Falcons 27-26.
The Buckeye Central Bucks were led on the ground by Cody Roberts who stacked up 235 yards on 50 attempts and two touchdowns. B.C. QB Kameron Jones led the Bucks’ aerial attack completing 10 passes on 15 tries for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Hermstein was Jones’ main target catching 5 receptions for 134 yards and a touchdown.
