BOWLING GREEN — Colonel Crawford will send five swimmers to the state swimming and diving championships next weekend.
The Lady Eagles finished second behind Oak Harbor in the Division II district swim meet at Bowling Green State University on Friday. That marked the best finish for coach Sarah Nigh-Bruner’s team.
They will compete this weekend at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.
The girls 200-yard freestyle team is seeded seventh at 1:40.24. The 400-freestyle relay squad is seeded ninth after a time of 3:40.89, which is a school record.
Among those qualifying are sophomore Brynn Bruner, freshman Riley Finnan, sophomore Ava Finnan and junior Ashtyn Rickel, who had a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 IM and 100 free.
For the boys, junior Landon Sutter also qualified after placing sixth in the 200 Individual Medley (IM) with a 2:03.13 clocking.
Bruner is seeded 26th (1:00.19) in the 100-yard backstroke and 28th in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:28.36.
Finnan is seeded 26th in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:58.51 and at 54.56 in the 100 freestyle.
Rickel is seeded 17th (53.69) in the 100 free, a school record, and is seeded 26th in the 200 IM at 2:15.91.
Cecelia Chase, Izzy Roston, Evy Grau, and Meadow Foust finished 17th in the 200-medley relay.
Lexington placed fourth, Ontario 10th and Upper Sandusky 15th in the team standings.
