DELAWARE (Crawford County Now) — Colonel Crawford opened the season in strong fashion here Thursday night, with a 42-7 win over Fairbanks in a game played at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Field.

Junior wideout Parker Weithman led the way with four catches for 187 yards, scored three touchdowns and had one interception — all in the first half.

The scoring strikes covered 43, 42 and 73 yards.

Quarterbacks Peyton Baker (4-for-7 for 135 yards and three touchdowns) and Brayden Holt (5-for-10 for 121 yards and two TDs) led the passing attack, while Connor McMichael rushed seven times for 32 yards and scored twice, once on the ground and once on a 5-yard pass reception from Baker.

Tyler Lash also had a 19-yard receiving touchdown from Holt for the Eagles (1-0).

Quarterback Bryson Griffith had a 7-yard touchdown run for the Panthers.

Colonel Crawford hosts Fairfield Union next Friday night.

Warriors stop Calvert

SYCAMORE — Quarterback Andon Clouse made his debut a successful one as Mohawk shut down rival Tiffin Calvert here Thursday night 39-6.

Clouse had a 38-yard run, and a 24-yard interception return in the first quarter as Mohawk built a 20-0 halftime lead.

Owen Patrizi scored from 5 yards out and Kaden Bish scored on a 28-yard run. Brant Kirian caught a 23-yard toss from Clouse for the final TD.

Carter Walton added a two-point conversion run and Aden Patrizi one PAT kick.

The lone Senecas’ score was Logan DeMoss’ 38-yard reception from Charlie Palm in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors (1-0) visit Cardington on Friday night.
