ARLINGTON — The Colonel Crawford girls’ golf team is headed back to a familiar course next weekend, after qualifying for the state tournament.
The Lady Eagles finished second to Van Buren in Division II district play Tuesday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. This marks the third straight trip to the Gray Course at The Ohio State University.
Play will be held Oct. 13 and 14. Last year Colonel Crawford finished 11th.
Senior Lucy Myers shot an 84 (42-42) for coach Roni Halberg. Senior Lexi Rush fired a 93 (48-45), junior Madison Gray a 94 (51-43), senior Ayla McKibben 95 (50-45) and senior Claire Lehman 108 (54-54).
Joslyn Hunt of Van Buren was medalist with a 78.
At last year’s state tournament Myers shot a 92. Sophie Beck (90) led the way, but she graduated. McKibben carded a 106, Rush a 108 and Lehman a 110.
· Buckeye Central junior Elizabeth Krebs shot a 103 (46-57) to place 46th.
· Galion boys ended their streak of state trips in Division II district play at Eagle’s Landing Golf Course in Oregon. Senior Logan Keller shot a 78; juniors Nate McMullen (79), Carson Walker (85) and Jack Rinehart (95) and freshman Parker Tinch (96). The Tigers placed fourth as a team. The top two teams qualify for the state. Galion finished eighth last year in what was its sixth straight trip to the state tournament.
· Upper Sandusky’s Brock Montgomery took medalist honors, shooting a 70.
· Wynford finished 12th with a 370 in Division III at Stone Ridge on Thursday.
Senior Micah Greene shot a 91. Canaan Slone carded a 94 and juniors Weston Prenger (87), Dawson Pelter (94), Briar Ridge (98) and Drew Johnson (106).
· Mohawk placed 15th, shooting a 380. Hunter Haynes (88), Travis Geary (92), Lance Frankart (93), Chase Cole (107) and Brayden Chester (108) competed for the Warriors.
· Northmor finished fifth in the six-team D-III district at Pickerington, shooting a team total 351. Senior Grant Bentley was third overall with a 76. Others playing for the Knights were senior Caiden Martinez at 87, sophomore Trevor Brubaker at 92, senior Drew Hammond at 96 and senior Ryan Diehl at 112.
