Free throw shooting and defense led Colonel Crawford to a 58-48 win over Willard last night in the boys Division III district semifinals at Ashland University.

Col. Crawford jumped out to a 14-12 lead after the first period. Willard tied the game at 29 after hitting a last second shot to go into the half. The momentum shifted in Willard’s direction after the break as the Flashes outscored the Eagles 11-8 in the third to finish the quarter with a 40-37 lead.

IMG_5172Trailing by three going into the final period Colonel Crawford made 15 of 20 free throws, and outscored Willard 21-8 to post their 23rd win of the year. With the win the Colonel Crawford Eagles advance to Saturday’s district championship game against the Eastwood Eagles. Eastwood defeated Huron earlier in the evening 50-48 and had ended Bucyrus’ hopes on March 6 after defeating the Redman 58-36.

Colonel Crawford was led in scoring by Todd Entenmann, who scored 18 points; Dylan Gulley had 17 and Owen Adams posted 15 points.

Willard scoring leader was Connor Robinson with 24 points.
