The Galion Tigers went to Milan Edison Friday night with hopes of extending their season and a deeper push into the playoffs, but the Edison Chargers had a different plan defeating the Tigers 49-28.

Edison jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Galion brought the game within 7 points after Quarterback Chase Cooke scored from one yard out with 2:56 left in the first. Both Edison and Galion exchanged scores in the second quarter with Galion going into the half trailing 21-14.

IMG_8797Receiving the opening kickoff after the half the Galion Tigers went on a 6 play 72 yard drive culminating in a 56 yard touchdown pass from Cooke to Justin Fryer to tie the game at 21. The momentum wouldn’t be on Galion’s side for long as Edison would score the next 4 touchdowns of the game to take a commanding 49-21 lead going into the fourth quarter. Cooke would score the game’s final score with 4:18 left in the game for the final score of 49-28.

Cooke led the Tigers passing completing 11 of 23 passes for 162 yards for 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Cooke also had 2 rushing touchdowns. Drake Barnett led the Tigers’ ground game with 121 yards on 19 attempts for a touchdown. Fryer led the Tigers’ receiving corps with 7 receptions for 128 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Edison Chargers leading passer was Keegan Hall who threw for 86 yards on 4 completions for a touchdown. Hall would also add 2 touchdowns rushing. On the ground the Chargers were led by Dan Stoll’s 103 yards on 14 attempts for 1 touchdown.

With the loss the Galion Tigers finish the season with an 8-3 record.
