Youngstown — Hayden Butcher of Bucyrus finished third in the Freshman State Wrestling Tournament held at the Covelli Center this past weekend.
The freshman tournament was part of the 25th Middle School State Wrestling Tournament.
Butcher wrestled in the 192-pound weight class, one of 15 weight classes at the tournament. There were 14 wrestlers from all parts of Ohio in Butcher’s class. He went 5-1 in the tournament and was bumped to the losers’ bracket with his lone loss to eventual champion Boden Ballinger of Wadsworth.
Also from Bucyrus, competing in the Middle School Tournament were Isaac Makeever, Wyatt Makeever, and Camden Redmon.
