The Bucyrus Athletic Department and Bucyrus Girls Tennis Program will be hosting the annual Sam Sabback Girls Tennis Invitational at Bucyrus Community Courts on September 8 beginning at 10 a.m.
This year’s teams are Bucyrus, Clear Fork, Galion, Ontario, Pleasant, River Valley, Shelby and Upper Sandusky. Galion is the defending champion and past two-time champion Shelby is a new addition this year.
This is the first invitational to be held since Sam’s death earlier this year. Prior to the start of the tournament there will be a moment of silence in honor of Sam and his contributions to the sport of tennis.
Admission is free, and the public is invited to watch some of the best tennis players in the area compete for a medal and the prestigious Sam Sabback Team Trophy.
