SANDUSKY — The Bucyrus girls’ tennis team opened the season on the road Friday at Sandusky Perkins.
The Lady Redmen had some closes matches, but ultimately fell, 4-1, to the Pirates.
In first singles, Hannah Scott beat Perkins’ Bailey Garrett, 7-6, 6-7, 10-8 (super tie breaker) in a 3-hour match for Bucyrus’ only victory.
Addy Young lost to Leanne Summer, 5-7, 7-5, 5-10 (super tie breaker) in second singles. Kaitlin Vaughn fell to Greta Gross, 2-6, 0-6, in third singles.
In first doubles, Claire Schifer and Heather Taylor lost, 0-6, 1-6, to the Pirates’ Kota and Showalter. Addy Rister and Sierra Frost went down in second doubles, 4-6, 2-6, to Bibler and Showalter.
The Redmen return to action on Monday at home versus River Valley.
