ROSSFORD — Brody Higginbotham was the lone Bucyrus bowler to qualify for the state bowling tournament.

Higginbotham became an individual qualifier by rolling a solid 647 three-game series, good for fifth place overall in the field of 103 bowlers.

The top three teams and the top three individuals not on a qualifying team advanced.

Coldwater finished first as a team with 3195 in three regular games and 1221 in six Baker games for 4416 total. St. Henry was second at 4022, and Van Wert was third with a 4011.

Dustin Feck finished 41st for Bucyrus with a 537 and Bryce Phillips was 52nd with a 507. The Redmen came in 12th out of 16 teams.

Wynford’s Aiden Mason was 42nd with his 530 series. Landon Fairchild was Galion’s top bowler with a 522 series, for 46th place. Calix Wolfe rolled a 502 for 55th place.

Boys’ Division II state tournament is March 1 at HP Lanes in Columbus.

In the girls’ district on Friday, Bucyrus sophomore Cami Myers finished 59th of 106 bowlers with a 430 series. Crestline’s Laura Quail was 37th with her 461. Kylee Crager of Galion was 42nd with 459, Kendall Naufzinger’s 440 was good for 53rd, while Casey Kipps and Sydney Beard tied for 65th at 409.

Napoleon (3844), St. Mary’s Memorial (3665) and Bryan (3579) were the girls’ teams going to the state tournament.
