For the past twenty years, the Bucyrus Elks Lodge #156 has been the driving force behind one of the largest track invitational meets in the region. The annual Elks #156 Invitational is being held at the Bucyrus City Schools Athletic Complex Saturday, April 5, and is shaping up to be a tremendous event. Preliminaries and field events begin at 9:30 a.m., and admission for adults is $6 and $4 for students.
This year’s field includes 17 teams from the region. Those competing include: Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Ashland Crestview, Galion, Gilead Christian, Lexington, Mohawk, Ontario, Pleasent, Plymouth, River Valley, Seneca East, South Central, Norwalk St. Paul, Upper, Western Reserve and Wynford.
“This is my first year with the district, and I am impressed with the level of organization and support this meet receives,” Athletics/Activities Director Tony Rose said. “I want to thank the Bucyrus Elks #156 for their support of our student-athletes and athletics programs.”
A meet of this size takes great support. Many volunteers from the Bucyrus and Crawford County community will be helping to make this year’s event great for the student-athletes, coaches and fans.
Additional support for the Elks #156 Invitational is provided by a number of tremendous business sponsors, including: Creative Options-Heat Wave Tanning, Dostal & Kirk Insurance and Financial Services, FC Bank, First Federal Community Bank, Kinn Brothers Plumbing & Heating, Mohican Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation, Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Old Crawford Land Title, Spreng Capital Management, United Ohio Insurance Company and Wise Funeral Service.
“We are very grateful to the Bucyrus Elks Lodge #156 for their tremendous support of our district,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “This event is one of the premier track meets in the region, and it would not be possible without the Elks Lodge #156.”
