Area wrestlers move on to district tournaments

(Crawford County Now) — A select group of wrestlers qualified for district competition at various sectional tournaments on Saturday. The top four in each weight class advance.

Division II

GALION — The host Tigers sent four of their grapplers onto the next round.

Gradey Harding (126) and Carter Trukovich (132) captured first place. Two others got second places in Carsten Branstetter (120) and Ryder Alberty (138).

Brice McDaniel got third at 175.

Galion placed third as a team behind Sandusky Perkins and Clear Fork.

Upper Sandusky sent four wrestlers with Ethan Lewis (157) the lone champion.

Division III

VAN BUREN — Mohawk finished second to Bluffton and qualified seven wrestlers.

Brant Kirian (138), Kaden Bish (175) and Braylen Mullholand (215) won individual titles.

Liam Pursell (144) and Troy Johnson (157) secured second-place finishes. Owen Patrizi (132) placed third and Lance Frankart (165) earned a fourth-place finish. Full results at https://www.baumspage.com/nwsect/ca3/2024/2025%20Results.htm

PLYMOUTH — Several wrestlers made it out of this tough sectional.

Five Seneca East wrestlers qualified, led by Braylen Depinet (175), Jackson Gayheart (190) and Alex Young (215), with second-place honors.

Deacon Lacy (126) and Cal Geary (138) got fourths. The Tigers finished eighth, Bucyrus 11th and Buckeye Central 13th.

Grady Weber (126) was the lone Redmen to advance. Hayden Butcher (215) and Asher Swerlein (285) just missed out with fifth-place finishes. Wyatt Makeever got sixth at 165 pounds.

MORRAL — Northmor will send six competitors on with Ethan Amens (120), Cowin Beker (144) and Ashton Clark (215) claiming top honors.

As a team the Golden Knights placed third behind Elgin and Mechanicsburg. The Comets qualified eight wrestlers for the Troy district meet.
