Nineteen wrestlers from north central Ohio qualified for next weekend’s state wrestling tournament. The event is March 8-10 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.

The top four in each weight class advanced to the state tournament while the fifth-place finishers serve as state alternates.

Results from several district tournaments this weekend are below.

DIVISION III at Rossford

Nicholas Parks of Seneca East and Mohawk’s Evan England finished second in their respective weight classes.

Parks (126) lost to Abe Hermes (Edison) via pin in 3:11 in the finals. The sophomore takes a 34-6 record into the state tourney.

Thomas Tyson (Elmwood) decisioned England 7-4 in the finals.

England topped Will Bischoff (Seneca East) 3-2 in a close semifinal contest that saw Bischoff nearly get a takedown at the match’s end. England, a senior, has a mark of 38-5.

Bischoff qualified after a third-place win, a 12-6 decision over Parker Cone of Delta.

Dominic Hemmer (285) lost 4-2 to Evan Smigelski (Swanton) in the semifinals. Hemmer is 40-13 and placed fifth with a 2-1 decision over Brady Smith of Delta.

Bucyrus’ trio of Grady Weber, Andy Case and Hayden Butcher competed.

Case placed fifth at 144 to finish 39-10. The senior pinned Ethan DeTray of Oak Harbor in 1:52.

Weber (120) lost two matches and is 30-12. Butcher, a freshman, lost a pair of matches at 190 pounds and is 35-13 overall.

Seneca East placed 12th, Mohawk 18th, Carey 28th, Bucyrus 30th and Buckeye Central tied for 40th in the 48-team field.

DIVISION III at Heath

Northmor qualified five for the state tourney.

Brady Carr (113) lost to Johnathan Huntsman (Barnesville) in the finals by a pin at 2:27. Carr is 37-8.

Cowin Becker (132) scored a 12-0 major decision over Zane Pickerrell (Zane Trace) to take first. Becker takes a 49-1 record to The Schott.

Carter Thomas (106) and Ethan Amens (120) and Carson Campbell (157) all placed third for the Golden Knights. Carter is 31-17, Amens 38-9 and Campbell 45-7.

Northmor finished second as a team to Barnesville.

Pleasant’s Daxton Chase (150) qualified second, Sam Mentzer (165) and Landon O’Donnell (190) also qualified.

Chase is 45-1 dropping his first match in the championship. Mentzer is 44-8 and O’Donnell 34-20. Both finished fourth.

Elgin sent Kaiden Luikart (150), Quinten Harrison (157) and Tyler Pasma (215), all fourth-place finishers. Luikart is 40-13, Harrison 36-7 and Pasma 46-7.

Elgin was fifth as a team, Pleasant eighth.

DIVISION II at Norwalk

Three Galion wrestlers made it out of their district.

Gradey Harding (36-7) decisioned Alex Gonzales of Napoleon 7-3 to take first place at 120.

Carter Trukovich (25-3) fell to Jacob Ohl (Ontario) 4-0 to finish second at 113.

Alex Griffith (37-5) took a 2-1 decision over Keegan Jacks (Hebron Lakewood) in the 285-pound championship match.

DIVISION II at Wilmington

Karsen Jenkins (106) and Porter Rick (190) took third place finishes for River Valley. Jenkins is 42-8 and Rick is 47-5.
