Carey 3, Wynford 2
HOLMES TOWNSHIP — Wynford came back from an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth and deciding game, before falling to visiting Carey in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball contest Tuesday.
The Blue Devils took the first two games, 25-21 and 25-21, but the Royals rallied to win the next two games, 26-24 and 25-22. Carey (8-10, 7-6 N10) took the fifth game, 20-18, for the win.
Wynford (5-14, 3-10) was led by Macey Zinser, who was 24 of 26 serving with three aces and 20 points and had 10 attacks.
Lainey Holman had 26 receptions, 23 digs and 10 attacks, while Kelsie Williams had 23 assists and Adrienne Whitmeyer had three blocks.
Mohawk 3, Bucyrus 0
SYCAMORE — Mohawk (15-2, 11-1) retained sole possession of first place in the N10 with the win over visiting Bucyrus, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-11.
Jordy Whitmore was 10 of 10 serving with two aces and added eight kills and eight digs for Bucyrus (2-16, 0-12).
Karley Spears had eight digs for the Lady Redmen and Sydney McAdams chipped in with 11 assists and seven digs.
Bucyrus will host Colonel Crawford in a “Volley for the Cure” match on Thursday.
Upper Sandusky 2, Cory-Rawson 1
RAWSON — Upper Sandusky overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to come home with a girls’ North Central Soccer Association win.
The Hornets grabbed the early lead on a goal by Grace Roebke at the 23:48 mark of the first half with an assist from Libby McVetta.
But the Lady Rams’ defense held Cory-Rawson (6-5-1, 1-4 NCOSA) scoreless from there.
Upper Sandusky (6-7-1, 1-3) tied the score on a goal by Audrey Boes at 24:53 of the second half with an assist by Alivia Oney.
Boes then assisted on a goal by Brooke Swavel with 11:47 left that was the eventual game-winner.
Goalkeeper Cortni Brown had seven saves for the Rams and Evelyn Waltz had three for the Hornets.
