SYCAMORE — Zack Houck caught a 61-yard touchdown from Wyatt Smith and the defense made it stand up as Wynford (5-1, 4-0 N10) remained undefeated in the Northern 10 Conference, 7-0, over previously unbeaten Mohawk.
Smith completed 10 of his 23 passes for 133 and the winning score, but was also intercepted twice. Smith also ran for 92 yards on 25 carries to account for 225 of the Royals’ 234 yards of total offense.
Warriors quarterback Keith Jenkins connected on eight of 26 passes for 63 yards and Bryce Kirian had 67 yards on the ground on 16 carries, as Mohawk (5-1, 3-1) finished with 212 yards but could not cross the goal line.
Colonel Crawford runs past Bucyrus
BUCYRUS — Trevor Shawber rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns and eight other Colonel Crawford runners combined with him to pile up 455 yards on the ground as the Eagles defeated Bucyrus, 55-13, in an N10 contest.
Shawber scored on runs of one, 68 and 27 yards, all in the first half. Dylan Knisley had touchdown runs of three and six yards, while Hayden Bute ran one in from 23 yards and connected with Kaleb Landin on a 53-yard pass play for a score, as Colonel Crawford (2-4, 1-4) built a 48-6 halftime lead.
Bucyrus (1-5, 1-3) got its only score of the half on an 85-yard kickoff return by Gram Dick. Harley Robinson led the Redmen with 92 yards rushing on 17 carries and the junior also passed for 57 yards, completing six of his 14 attempts.
Ben Seibert was good on six of 15 passes for 39 yards for Bucyrus. Gram Dick caught eight passes for 80 yards. Robinson scored on a 1-yard run for the Redmen’s only touchdown of the second half.
The Eagles’ only score in the second half came on a 16-yard pass from Zye Shipman to Landin, who had two catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Sandusky St. Mary pulls away from Buckeye Central
Sandusky St. Mary scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to pull away from Buckeye Central, 46-14, in a non-league game.
Max Loy tossed touchdown passes of 68 yards to Payton Phenicie and 8 yards to Wade Ackerman as the Bucks trailed, 26-14, at halftime.
Everett Samstag led the Panthers with 141 yards rushing on 20 carries with one touchdown. Michael Sloan add 106 yards on 14 tries and two scores. St. Mary (1-5) finished with 372 yards of total offense.
Loy led the Bucks’ offense, completing 15 of 26 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Phenicie caught three balls for 85 yards. Buckeye Central (0-6) totaled 206 yards.
Seneca East blanks Upper Sandusky
Seneca East (5-0, 3-0) built a 34-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 41-0 N10 win over Upper Sandusky.
D.J. Ruffing caught an 8-yard scoring pass from Chase Foos and ran 57 yards for another score to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead and they never looked back.
Foos connected on 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Foos, Blaine Swartzmiller, Kainon Ruffing and Brock Martin all ran for scores. Martin had 87 yards on 13 carries.
Nate McMillan led the Rams (1-5, 0-3) with 34 yards on 13 carries.
