
Hamm’s field goal pushes Bucyrus past Buckeye Central
NEW WASHINGTON — Kyle Hamm kicked a 33-yard field goal with one second left in the game to give Bucyrus its first win of the year, 36-34, over Buckeye Central in a Northern 10 Conference game.
Harley Robinson scored four touchdowns for the Redmen, three in the first half, as Bucyrus (1-4, 1-2 N10) built a 27-14 lead by intermission. Robinson scored on runs of 64 and 22 yards and was on the receiving end of a 46-yard scoring pass from Ben Seibert.
The other Redmen score in the first half came on a 70-yard kickoff return by Keaton Naufzinger.
Buckeye Central got scores from Sy Petro with a fumble recovery in the end zone and a 7-yard run by Max Loy.
The Bucks then chipped away at the deficit in the second half. Avery Baldosser scored on a 7-yard run but Robinson caught a 1-yard pass from Seibert for his fourth score of the night for the Redmen.
Wade Ackerman caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Brady Kerschner early in the fourth quarter, then hauled in a 47-yard strike that put Buckeye Central (0-5, 0-3) ahead, 34-33, for the first time in the game with just 1:05 left in the game.
Bucyrus took the time to drive to the Bucks’ 16 yard line with five seconds left. Coach Aaron Eckert elected to try a field goal.
Baldosser led Buckeye Central with 210 yards on 33 carries. The Bucks rushed for 257 yards and Kerschner threw for 116 more. Ackerman was on the receiving end five times, good for 79 yards.
Robinson rushed for 162 yards on 14 tries. Seibert was 12 for 24 passing for 153 yards. Robinson caught seven for 93 yards.
Seneca East tops Colonel Crawford in overtime
NORTH ROBINSON — Brock Martin ran nine yards for a touchdown in overtime to lead Seneca East over Colonel Crawford, 34-28, in an N10 contest.
The Eagles jumped out to a 13-0 first-quarter lead and held a 21-14 advantage at halftime. But the Tigers tied the game at 21-21 and again at 28-28 to send it into the extra period.
Colonel Crawford (1-4, 0-4) got the ball first in the overtime, but failed to score. Hayden Bute was eight of 19 passing for 112 yards and a touchdown. Trevor Shawber ran for 263 yards on 30 carries, with three scores. Kaleb Landin caught three passes for 77 yards.
Chase Foos threw for 224 yards for Seneca East (4-0, 2-0), completing 19 of 26 passes and two touchdowns. Martin rushed for 155 yards on 22 carries and the winning score. D.J. Ruffing caught six passes for 58 yards.
