The 50th Bucyrus Ladies Invitational Bowling Tournament got underway at Suburban Lanes with two days of matches on the weekend for the 16 bowlers who qualified.

On Saturday, Sharon Alspach edged Robin Pangallo, 697-692; Joy Steurer defeated Lori Angel, 746-674; Kathy Watts dropped Deb Higginbotham, 670-603; Morgan Swavel bested Tacsha Ridgeway, 712-594; defending champion Patricia Horsley slipped past Brittany Slagle, 740-722; Heather McLaughlin beat Tricia Breighner, 646-581; Deb Mason beat Lisa Penwell, 692-646; and Renae Cox defeated Char Auxier, 783-680.

In the losers’ bracket on Sunday, four bowlers were eliminated. Pangallo knocked out Lori Angel, 732-663; Higginbotham eliminated 2016 champion Ridgeway, 701-681; Breighner dropped rookie Slagle, 727-693; and Penwell sent home rookie Auxier, 689-586.

In the winners’ bracket, Steurer knocked Alspach into the losers’ bracket, 662-629; rookie Watts defeated Swavel, 678-617; 3-time champion McLaughlin beat Horsley, 735-689; and rookie Cox dropped Mason, 657-573.

The tournament resumes Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the losers’ bracket. Pangallo vs. Horsley; Higginbotham vs. Mason; Breighner vs. Alspach; and Penwell vs. Swavel.

The winners bracket bowls on Saturday at 1 p.m. Steuer faces Watts and McLaughlin takes on Cox.
