Staff report
A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is being planned for August 17 at Bucyrus High School.
The inaugural Larry Heid Basketball Tournament is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. that day. There will be four divisions, including grades 6-8, 9-10, 11-12 and open.
Elimination games and start times will be determined based on the number of teams in each division. There will be a $50 entry fee and teams can consist of three to five players. Each half-court game will be 20-30 minutes in length.
All proceeds will go toward a scholarship pool to assist local students with educational needs.
The tournament is being organized in honor of Heid, a BHS alumnus, who was the Bucyrus basketball team statistician for over 40 years. The City of Bucyrus dedicated the refurbished basketball court at Aumiller Park to Heid and named it for him last summer.
All teams need to be registered by August 3. Register at http://basketball.exposureevents.com.
