BUCYRUS — Its the final week of the FCBank Fan of the Week award and also a Week 10 Battle for the Copper Kettle.
Two students show that students at Wynford and Bucyrus high schools may be friends for most of the year, but when the schools just five miles apart meet on the gridiron, there’s no love lost and it all comes down to winning the coveted Copper Kettle.
Wynford senior Rylee Alspach and Bucyrus junior Karson Kimmel are both multi-sport athletes for their schools but can always be seen cheering on their football teams on Friday nights.
Alspach puts in her work on Friday’s as one of the Royals’ water girls on the sidelines and Kimmel puts in time as one of the flag carriers whenever the Redmen score a touchdown.
Both said their team could come into the Copper Kettle game winless, but the season would be salvaged with a win against their bitter rival.
They did admit they have friends at the rival school, but school pride keeps those friendships on the back burner, at least for a week, or maybe the following Monday as well pending the game’s outcome.
For their fandom of the Redmen and the Royals, Kimmel and Alspach received tee shirts from River’s Edge Embroidery, Screen Printing and Signs in Marion.
Congratulations to the FCBank Fans of the Week for Week 10, Karson Kimmel and Rylee Alspach!
