William L. Evans, age 73, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on
Monday, December 21, 2020, at 9:26 pm at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
Bill was born on April 8, 1947, in Logan, Ohio, to James L. and Mary J. (Boyd) Evans, both are deceased. He married Sylvia (McWilliams) on May 12, 1972, and she survives.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Ryan (April) Evans of Fairborn, Ohio, and Jeff Evans of Upper Sandusky, along with 2 grandchildren, Caroline Evans of Visby, Sweden, and Cedric Evans of Upper Sandusky.
Bill is also survived by a brother, James (Nancy) Evans of Central Lake, Michigan, and a sister Mary Meier of Lansing, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Jeanne Ann Mohre.
Bill was a 1965 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio during the Vietnam War.
Bill was currently an account manager for G & L Oil Company in Tiffin, Ohio. Previously, he had been a car salesman for B & B Rambler and Crow Motor Sales, before owning and operating Bill Evans Pontiac -Oldsmobile, Inc. from 1979 until 1994.
He was a member of the Crawford United Methodist Church, where he served as the treasurer. He was the current chairman of the Wyandot County Democratic Party, and also served on the Wyandot County Board of Elections.
For hobbies Bill enjoyed all things automotive, especially racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Indianapolis Speedway, and the Michigan International Speedway. He was an avid bicyclist. and spent many happy days with Sylvia at their vacation home in Port Charlotte, Florida.
He loved people and enjoyed helping others whenever he could. Bill cherished spending time with his family.
Funeral services for Bill Evans will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, December 28, 2020, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Cynthia Morrison officiating. Burial will be at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, December 27, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
