William Joe “Bill” Debolt, 83 of Galion went home to be with his Lord on March 9, 2018 at his home.

Born December 9, 1934 in Marion, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ray and Charlotta (Courtney) Debolt.  He married Iola (Hansen) Debolt on September 11, 1955 and she survives.

Bill repaired appliances for Debolt’s Home Appliances for several years and had various jobs before going to work at the Galion Post Office and retired after nearly 30 years of service.  After several years of retirement, He went to work for Poland’s True Value Hardware for another 14 years and retired due to health problems.  He was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church where he held many positions and was also a member of the Galion Lion’s Club where he held most of the offices.

He played trombone with the “Afterbeats” dance band with Dick Ness, as well as several other groups. Bill was a talented artist and had done many pen and ink drawings of people’s houses, and had drawn the family’s Christmas cards for many years.  He enjoyed restoring many pictures and picture frames, such as pictures damaged at the famous Brownella Cottage in Galion.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by four children, Michael (Eva) Debolt of Peoria, Arizona, Tamara (Robert) Farson of Galion, Debra (Mark) Morich of Mansfield and Terra (Todd Steinhour) Davie of North Canton; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth Robotyn, Sarah Robotyn, Dawn Buskirk, Julie Debolt, Adam Debolt, Rebecca Farson, Ciara Biggs, Danielle Kubasek, Joshua Sheffer, Andrew Davie and Lauren Davie; one great grandson, Luke Buskirk, sister, Nancy (Jim) Bowman of Marion and Brother, Jack (Nancy) Debolt of Tucson, AZ.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Robotyn and a granddaughter, Kaitlynn Sheffer.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Additional calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church, 130 East Walnut Street, Galion, Ohio 44833, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Matt Weaver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the DaVita Dialysis Center in care of the funeral home.
