William “Bill” Mackey, 88, of Galion passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Avita Bucyrus Hospital.
He was born February 19, 1935 in Galion and was the son of George Willard and Lucille (Vaughn) Mackey. Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice A. (Stahl) Mackey whom he married on August 16, 1953.
He graduated from Galion High School in 1953 and continued his education at Ashland University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Bill worked 30 years as an Engineer for North Electric, Elliott Machine, PECO and Iberia Fabrication.
He attended Community Christian Church in Galion and was a member of the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 of Galion. Bill enjoyed crossword puzzles, sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Michael (Wade) Mackey of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Dana Mackey of Mansfield; son-In-law, Don (Deb) Clark of Galion; four grandchildren, Miranda (Bill) Kennedy of Upper Sandusky, Travis (Kari) Clark of Galion, Eric Clark of Dublin, Ohio and Matt Clark of Bluffton, South Carolina and eight great-grandchildren, Rowen, Brynn, Hudson and Oaklyn Kennedy, Camryn, Canaan, Cali and Wells Clark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janeen Clark; brother, Donald Mackey, sister, Patricia Garverick and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Garverick.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday, May 8, 2023 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 12 noon, May 8th with Rev. Dr. Daniel Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
