Waldene O. “Dusty” Blasberg, 95, of Galion passed away November 12, 2019 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.
Born August 14, 1924 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Simon and May (Evans) Rhoades. She married Paul E. Blasberg on July 14, 1945 and they enjoyed 64 years together until his passing on July 16, 2009.
She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1942 and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Galion. Dusty taught art at Galion City Schools and at St, Joseph Catholic School. She also helped her husband Paul operate Porky’s restaurant in Mansfield. Dusty was a talented artist, and a member of the Current News Club. She taught Red Cross swimming lessons and was a former member of the Galion Community Center YMCA where she swam every day up to age 88.
She is survived by sons Daniel Blasberg, Sr. of Galion and Dana Blasberg of Galion; grandchildren Daniel (Sue) Blasberg Jr., Donita Blasberg, Kimberly Nicole (Troy) Ruff, Brandon Blasberg and Wesley (Dawn) Blasberg and great grandchildren Jesse Blasberg, Blake Blasberg, Brayden Blasberg, Alexis Blasberg, Cameron Ruff, Arianne Ruff, Addison Ruff, Landon Blasberg and Maddie Blasberg.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by brother Colbert Rhoades and a daughter-in-law, Alice Blasberg.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 22 with Pastor Heather McLeod officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
