Tom Paynter, 75, of Columbus and formerly of Galion passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Kobacker House in Columbus.

Born January 27, 1943 in Crestline, he was the son of the late William Thomas, Sr. and Ardith (Enders) Paynter.

Tom attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Galion and graduated from Galion High School in 1961.  He then received an Associate Degree in Accounting from North Central Technical College in 1973.  He worked for the former United Telephone Company in Mansfield in the accounting department. While living in Galion he was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion, where he ushered and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and after moving to Columbus twenty years ago Tom attended the St, Agatha Catholic Church in Upper Arlington where he sang in the choir.  He was a former member of the Galion Jaycees and enjoyed classical music.

He is survived by a brother, Don (Cynthia) Paynter of Columbus; aunt, Jeanne (William) Vollrath of Galion; uncle, William (Tinker) Enders of Virginia; nieces, Emily (Shaun) Badertscher, Julie (Scott) Deisler and Molly (David) Frankhouser all of Columbus and a nephew Andrew (Kristy) Paynter of Camp Lejeune, N.C.

A graveside service will be held for Tom, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kobacker House in care of the funeral home.
