Tom Knapp, 83, a rural Galion resident for the past eight years moving from West Lafayette, Ohio to be close to family passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Born August 25, 1940 in Conneautville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Robert Clifton and Edith (Grey) Knapp. He married Kathleen Ann “Kay” Wetherbee on November 27, 1963 and she preceded him in death after 51 years of marriage on September 4, 2015.
Tom worked as a lumberman in the Standing Timber Industry for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, reading and spending time with family.
He is survived by daughters, Shelly Knapp of Massillon and Marcia (Greg) Hykes of Galion; six grandchildren, Jessica (Kaleb) Eggerton, Jordan (Keith) Douglas, Julie (Cody) Setser, Jenna Hykes, Amanda (Daniel) Heflin and John Barnes; 12 great-grandchildren, Luke Remy, Sadie Remy, Syndi Setser, Violet Douglas, James Douglas, Evelyn Douglas, Hattie Douglas, Bexley Setser, Hayden Heflin, Morgan Heflin, Lorelai Heflin and Gabe Campbell and a brother, Dave (Jane) Knapp of Port Ritchey, Florida.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Eileen.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in his honor in care of the funeral home.
