Thomas “Tom” Benton Clutter, 83 of Crestline passed away on January 27,2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Tom was born to the late Robert and Ruth (Kimes) Clutter on September 21, 1938 in Crestline, Ohio. He married Barb Exenkamper on November 30, 1957.
Upon graduation from Crestline High School in 1956, Tom worked for the U.S. Postal service for 38 years as a postal carrier. After his retirement, Tom became a real estate agent for Sluss Realtors. Tom was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the Crestline School Board for 18 years as well as the Pioneer School Board. He enjoyed 13 years of coaching little league baseball and was involved with the Crestline Sports Hall of Fame Committee. Being such a big sports fan, Tom loved cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. However, his favorite teams were the ones his grandchildren played on, where he was always in the stands cheering them on.
Tom is survived by his wife; Barb and their three children, Daniel (Nancy) Clutter, Bucyrus, David Clutter, Crestline and son-in-law Jim Bauer, Crestline; three grandchildren, Jessica (Steven) Anderson, Cuyahoga Falls, Bradley Clutter, Westlake and Nicholas Reynolds of Columbus; sister Susie Shiplet, Ontario.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Bauer; brothers Donald Clutter and Joseph Sutter.
Friends may call on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Crestline, 223 West Main Street, service to immediately follow at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline, Ohio.
