Thomas (Tom) Eugene Starner of Bucyrus went to be with Jesus on October 24, 2018. He passed away of heart complications at Dublin Methodist Hospital in Dublin, Ohio.
Tom was born in Wyandot County to the late Robert F. Starner and Dorothy (Beamer) Starner. He married Barbara Ann Rowland of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. They were married for over 64 years.
He graduated from Harpster High School. He was stationed in the US and Germany while serving in the United States Army as a Long-Range Radar Operator. He retired from Timken Roller Bearing Company after 34 ½ years.
Tom was a born again, spirit filled Christian who cared about others. He volunteered at WXML Christian Radio in Upper Sandusky, Ohio for over 10 years. He prayed for and with others and read his Bible daily. He made several trips to Kentucky Mountain Housing and went on a mission trip to Guatamala. He also enjoyed his family, fishing and watching western movies. He enjoyed going to Florida and Cape Hatteras on the Outer Banks.
Along with his wife he is survived by children Stephen (Shelly) Starner of Northwood, Susanne Starner of Bucyrus, and John (Jean) Starner of Marion. Grandchildren Andrea (Keith) Buzzard of Etna, Andrew (Erica) Starner of Etna, and Carissa Starner of Crestline. Great grandchildren Harmony Buzzard, October Buzzard, Kynlee Buzzard and Bentley Starner. He is also survived by sister Anna Jane Gradish and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother James Starner and sister Margaret Cardwell.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Burial will be held at a later date in Nevada Cemetery with Rev. William Strader officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
No flowers please. Barbara does not have a green thumb. Instead be kind to one another and do a good deed for somebody.
