Susan G. Wright-Schafer, 67, of Crestline passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at home.
Born February 8, 1956 in Sandusky, she was the daughter of Dale R. and Lois M. (Alberts) Wright. Susan is survived by her soul mate of 27 years, Donald “Donnie” Schafer.
She earned an Associate’s degree from Bowling Green University and served during peace time in The United States Navy as a dental technician on a sub tender. Susan worked at Lowes in Sandusky for nine years, then worked 12 years at Marion County Developmental Disabilities (MARCA) and recently worked as a custodian at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crestline.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crestline and a member of Crestline VFW 2920. Susan loved reading, particularly Sue Grafton books, jig saw puzzles, watching Perry Mason and was a Browns fan. She loved bird watching, especially bald eagles.
In addition to Donnie, she is survived by daughters, Sandi L. Stewart of Monroeville, Sarah A. Pheifer of Norwalk and Stephanie M. (Benji) Goodrich of Normantown, West Virginia; Donnie’s children, Jennifer (Jason) Hoke of Hamilton, Stephenie (Todd) Bischoff of Monroeville, Jamie (Melinda) Schafer of Chardon and Bethany (Kevin) McReynolds of Perrysburg; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; Donnie’s 13 grandchildren and brothers Bob (Merita) Wright of Sandusky and Jim (MaryAnn ) Wright of Sandusky.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Tom Wright and sister, Wendy Krick.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 North Thoman Street, Crestline, Ohio, 44827 with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by The United States Navy and the Galion-Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
