Shirley Statham went home to her Lord January 2, 2023.

She was born August 14, 1939 in Fresno, California to Edgar and Bernice (Shrum) Statham.

Her parents and brother Doug and granddaughter Amber preceded her and were there to meet her. Shirley’s children survive, Melodie (Dan) Williamson, Sheri (Tim Weigle) Fortney and David (Ruby) Grau.

Our mother was the sweetest and kindest. She met our dad, Ronnie Grau when he was stationed in the United States Navy and they went on a double date with her friend Marlene and his Navy pal, George. The rest was history and after they were married in California they were stationed soon after in Florida and after four years they went back to Ohio to farm.

Children soon were in the mix, and mom worked as secretary to the owner at LK Motel and restaurants along with helping dad on the farm and raising three kids.

Later in life she retired to the mountains of Foresthill, California where she met Maggie. He was also a United State Navy guy and she loved going on long rides investigating new places. She also takes long walks with two best dog pals, Tito and Pixie. Maggie passed and mom came back to her kids in Ohio.

Her grandkids and great grandkids were there to make sure she had a blast! We all were very fortunate to make up for lost time and until Parkinson’s hit we kept the road hot.

Grandkids surviving are Jeremy (Brandy) Fortney, Aaron Williamson, Aliza Williamson, Kyle (Katie) Fortney and Kassi (John Weaver) Grau, and Elizabeth Williamson; great grandkids, Daniel Josh, Maddie, Bryson, Katelyn, Lynnlee, Nathan, Cameron, Corbin and Gracie and great great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ava and Callie and a nephew Shawn Statham.

There will be no service and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus.
