Shirley Mease-Williams, 84, of Galion passed into her Lord’s hands peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
Born August 15, 1938 in Galion, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Esther (Stogie) Hoover. On January 13, 1956 she married Don Mease and he preceded her in 1985. She then married Edward Williams and they have been married for 32 years.
As a teen she first worked at Quay’s in Galion and then for the former Ritchey House Hotel. She then worked for and retired from GTE.
Shirley was a member of the Grace Point Church in Galion, enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, car rides, boating on Clear Fork Lake, visiting family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was always laughing and smiling.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Dennis Downing of Galion, Norman (Collette) Mease of Galion, Tom (Carol) Mease of Springfield, John (Carolyn) Mease of Australia, Richard (Kim) Mease of Glenford, Vickie Jacobus of Anoka, Minn. and Diane Riley of Anoka, Minn.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sister, Dolores Wolfe of Galion.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Mike and Gerald Hoover; daughter, Linda Brown and son-in-law, Dalton Brown; stepsons, Larry and Dennis Mease and nephew, Shawn Freeman.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 7, 2022 at Grace Point 683 Portland Way North Galion, Ohio 44833 where a Celebration of Life service will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Paul Walter officiating.
