Shelley Dorian believed that on a gloomy day, all you needed to do was create your own sunshine. She had a heart of gold and shared so much joy with all those around her.  Shelley never met a stranger and always shared a kind word with those she met. Shirley “Shelley” Dorian, 86, of Galion, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born June 30, 1934, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of Joseph “Roy” and Carmen (Herschberger) Rose.

Shelley worked as a secretary at the former Galion Iron Works in Galion for many years. As a young child, she loved to sing and Shelly loved to sing at many events. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed flowers, cooking, baking, and was always the life of the party, lighting the room when she walked in.

Shelley is survived by her children, Mark W. (Sharon) Dorian of Cleveland, Diane M. (Mark Haag) Dorian of Simpsonville, Kentucky, Debbie Dorian of Galion and Robert T. Dorian of Clearwater, Florida; five grandchildren, Grant (Kaitlyn) Dorian, Stacie (Chase) Carroll, Luke Dorian, Shawn (Stephanie) Trussell and Erin Trussell and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Margo Carroll.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her ex-husband and friend, William T. Dorian and two brothers William Rose and Joseph Roy Rose, Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society serving Crawford County in care of the funeral home.

The family wants to thank Grace Hospice of Columbus, Ohio for providing loving care to Shelley for the last 10 months as the team always went above and beyond.
