Sharon Lee (Shultz) Burtch died of complications related to Multiple Sclerosis on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born August 14, 1959 in Hazleton, PA. She lived in Audubon, PA before moving to Marion, OH in 1973. Sharon was graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor Degree in Art Education. After graduating, she moved to Indianapolis where she secured a position as a Sales Representative with BellSouth Corporation selling yellow page ads. A talented artist, she created personalized advertising for her clients and won awards for Sales several times before her declining health forced her to leave the position and the area. In 1992, Sharon moved to Galion where she resided with her best friend, her dedicated and devoted mom.
Sharon had a megawatt smile and a contagious laugh. She was fiercely independent and a warrior against injustice in any form. She battled MS with dignity and grace and was a hero and an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Sharon planned craft projects with her nieces and nephews, loved baking treats for her furry relations, and was an avid jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and Buckeye fan. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with others on Facebook and had many Farmville friends.
Sharon is survived by her mother, Betty J. Polgrean Shultz, and her father and stepmother, Charles C. and Marlene Shultz of Ocean City, MD. She has three sisters: Debra Horton (Dale), of Galion; Marybeth Wittkopf (Paul), of Lewis Center, OH; and Krista McGinnis, of Delaware, OH. In addition, Sharon doted on her nieces and nephews: Megan, Natalie, and Thomas Wittkopf; and her godson and nephew, Christopher McGinnis. She followed their progress and achievements with pride. Sharon was blessed with special friends and caregivers: Darla Hildebrand and Cindy Laird. They cared for her with compassion and empathy.
A memorial service for Sharon and a celebration of her life will be held at the Galion Big Four Depot Pavilion, 127 N. Washington St., at 6 pm on Friday, February 23, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Humane Society of Delaware County (www.hsdcohio.org), a no-kill shelter that survives on community donations and grant funds.
