Sara Lou Binau age 86 of Upper Sandusky, died Feb. 3, 2024 at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 30, 1937 in Bucyrus to the late Thomas H. and Olive L. (Carpenter) Miller. She married Donald J. Brown on Nov. 8, 1958 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1986. She then married Gene A. Binau on July 23, 2009 and he survives along with step-children Dirk (Candice) Binau, Mark (Connie) Binau, Angelee (Mike) Conner, Dal (Amy) Binau, Kip (Karen) Binau, Tenna (Michael) Ball, 14 step grandchildren, 20 step great grandchildren, 6 step great great grandchildren, a sister Carol Ann Hostetter, nieces Stacy (Roy) Conley, Lori (Kent) McGurie, nephews Tom Henige, Craig Henige, great nephews and nieces Brenen McGuire, Brady McGuire, Casey Conley and Shelby Conley. She is preceded in death by a sister Linda L. Henige and a brother-in-law Roy Hostetter.
She was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School with the class of 1955, she then graduated from Miami of Ohio University. Sara Lou was a member of John Stewart United Methodist Church. She was the former owner/operator of the Dairy Snack restaurant, she was a school teacher in Kansas and Upper Sandusky, she worked for Edward D. Jones, Upper Sandusky City Tax Office, Pam Morral’s Unique Boutique.
Sara Lou served on the Upper Sandusky City Council, Tree Commission, Zoning Committee, Wyandot County Community Foundation, Wyandot County Improvement Corporation, Wyandot County Historical Society and Wyandot County Visitor’s Bureau. She was a member of the Rotary Club, Upper Sandusky and Carey Chamber of Commerce, she taught Red Cross Swimming Lessons, volunteered for the Fantasy of Lights and Wyandot Co. Historical Society.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30PM on Fri. Feb. 9, 2024 at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Wessler officiating. Interment will follow in North Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service on Fri. Feb. 9, 2024 from 9:30AM-12:30PM at the funeral home.
